Anti-racism campaigners believe they may have uncovered evidence that Anders Behring Breivik, the man who carried out the mass killings in Norway, was in touch with activists from the English Defence League as recently as March.
Searchlight said the 32-year-old used the pseudonym of a 12th-century Norwegian king to communicate with people on the EDL forum before retreating to a remote farm to prepare for last week's attacks.
In one posting, on 9 March, the author called on rightwing activists in the UK to "keep up the good work".
"Hello. To you all good English men and women, just wanted to say that you're a blessing to all in Europe, in these dark times all of Europe are looking to you in such [sic] of inspiration, courage and even hope that we might turn this evil trend with islamisation all across our continent. Well, just wanted to say keep up the good work it's good to see others that care about their country and heritage. All the best to you all. Sigurd"
Breivik boasted about his links to the UK far-right group in his 1,500-page manifesto, written in English under his Anglicised name, Andrew Berwick.
In the document, he says he was given the codename "Sigurd (the Crusader)" at a meeting of a group called the Knights Templar Europe in London in 2002. There is no confirmation that the author is Breivik. Sigurd is a common name in Norway.
In messages, "Sigurd" says he attended a football match in the UK and expresses his admiration for the EDL, adding that he would like join one of its demonstrations.
"i've seen with my own eyes what has happened to england, i was in bradford some years ago, me and a friend walked down to the football stadium of bradford, real 'nice' neighborhood, same thing in the suburbs of london. well thinking about taking a little trip over the sea and join you in a demo. would be nice with a norwegian flag alongside with union jack or the english flag, that is if a norwegian would be welcome offcourse?"
In another message, he goes on to discuss the situation in Norway.
"The biggest problem in Norway is that there is no real free press, there is a left-wing angle on all the political topics so most people are going around like idiots. And offcourse with our norwegian labour party beeing in power for most of the last 50 years dont help. but i i think there is an awakening now at least i hope so."
In his manifesto, Breivik repeatedly refers to the EDL, stating at one point: "I used to have more than 600 EDL members as Facebook friends and have spoken with tens of EDL members and leaders."
"In fact, I was one of the individuals who supplied them with processed ideological material (including rhetorical strategies) in the very beginning."
The EDL – which has staged a series of street demonstrations, many of which have turned violent, since it was formed two years ago – denies any links to Breivik and has condemned the killings, stating it is a peaceful organisation that rejects all forms of extremism.
There have also been claims that Breivik attended EDL demonstrations in London and Newcastle upon Tyne last year. One alleged EDL activist posted a comment online on Sunday stating: "[B]ar one or two doubt the rest of us ever met him, altho he did come over for one of our demo in 2010 … but what he did was wrong."
Another alleged EDL supporter suggested in a separate forum that she had come across Breivik in the UK. "OMG [Oh, my God] … HIM?! He wrote some books and did talks didn't he?"
Stephen Lennon, the leader of the EDL, told the BBC on Monday he had never met Breivik and added that he did not believe the Norwegian had attended any EDL demonstration. He also pointed out that at one point in his manifesto Breivik described the EDL as "naive fools" who believed in the democratic process.
Searchlight's editor, Nick Lowles, said there was now "clear evidence" of a direct link between Breivik and the English Defence League.
"The Home Office must now formally classify the EDL as an extremist organisation and allow the police to deploy the same manpower and resources to monitoring their activity as they would other extremist groups. It's also clear that the proposed EDL march in Tower Hamlets cannot be allowed to proceed."
THE GUARDIAN CONSIDERS ITSELF A QUALITY NEWSPAPER, AND I WANT TO POINT OUT SOMETHING WHICH THE GUARDIAN EDITOR IS ALREADY VERY WELL AWARE, BUT GUARDIAN READERS MAY NOT BE. SEARCHLIGHT HAS VERY MURKY ROOTS. I AM SURE SEARCHLIGHT EXPOSED WONT MIND ME REPOSTING A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION FROM THEIR WEBSITE:
Searchlightexposed.com exists for two reasons:
ONE, to serve as an online warning to the general media about the true nature and activities of the so-called “anti-fascist” Searchlight Magazine, and its publisher, Gerry Gable; and
TWO, to keep a public record of the outrageous lies, exaggerations and distortions which Gable and his magazine produce.
The general media, for reasons best known to themselves, continues to look up to Gable and Searchlight magazine as some sort of “fountain of truth” when it comes to nationalist politics in Britain.
Why this should be so, is baffling – given the long list of lies and distortions which is Gable’s track record, and which has, quite literally, cost institutions such as the BBC millions of pounds in damages.
Gable has also been sued in person, successfully, on a number of occasions. The details of these, and other incidents, have been compiled into this web site.
Gable, nor anyone else employed by his error-prone, lie-ridden magazine deserves to be employed as a journalist. They most certainly shouldn't be consulted by any responsible media outlet - print or broadcast - as consultants on any aspect of politics, history or current affairs.
Most magazines are published in part for profit; Searchlight is not. Its registered circulation of 6,900 is almost certainly a gross exaggeration; its real circulation is believed to be not much more than 3,000. Of these, a tiny fraction go to members of the general public, and indeed, many of these are bought by "fascists". The magazine's distributors do not even bother to collect the money from shop outlets. So what is the purpose of Searchlight if it is not a commercial undertaking and is not distributed to the public?
The answer is that this monthly is subsidised by someone or some organisation for the express purpose of political disinformation. As documented on this web site, Gable's connections with the British Secret State Service are not only well documented, but self-admitted.
In addition, Searchlight actively seeks censorship, the destruction of free speech, and publishes personal details of individuals it does not like – all with the express intention of causing trouble, a fact stated by a judge in a court of law.
Lastly, the fact that Gable and almost all of those who run Searchlight, are ardent out-and-out hardcore Communists who all have active records in the most radical, extremist leftist organisations in Britain’s history, should serve as a healthy warning to all those who seek their opinion on anything.
The reader has been warned – now you are invited to peruse the appalling record of Gerry Gable and Searchlight.
Harry Bidney – Searchlight’s Pervert Hero
Harry Bidney was manager of the Limbo Club in Soho , which should have been warning enough. He was also involved with the Zionist terror outfit, 'The 62 Group' who were supporters of the terrorist Beginite Herut organisation in Israel .
Gable met Bidney when both were involved with the '62 Group.
After his death, Bidney was described by Gable in Searchlight’s pages as a "hero".
So who was this hero to who Gable looks up as a role model?
In 1977 Bidney was found guilty of eight charges of living off the earnings of prostitutes.
In court, Bidney was described as the company secretary of Calderhead Investments, which was headed by David Calderhead, who was jailed for, on his own admission, attempting to procure a 16-year-old boy to commit an act of gross indecency with the predatory homosexual Harry Bidney.
In the March 1997 edition of Searchlight Gerry Gable wrote of his joy at having a 60th birthday surprise party sprung on him by his fellow Searchlight comrades.
He listed pimp Harry Bidney as one of just eight "old and dear friends" that had "passed on". But "The evening did not pass without fond memories of you all".
Searchlight’s Criminal and Violent Record
* In November 1963, Gerry Gable was arrested and held at Hornsey police station following a break-in at the flat of the historian David Irving.
After stealing GPO identity documents, the Communist Party member Gable and his comrade Manny Carpel, burgled Irving ’s house hoping to find “evidence” that Irving was a “Nazi.’
Of course, they found nothing, and instead were arrested for their troubles. On January 14, 1964, Gable pleaded guilty to breaking into the flat with intent to steal, and was convicted.
* Carpel was also arrested in 1963 for assaulting P.C. William Nield and of having an offensive weapon (a metal butcher's hook).
* In 1967, Carpel pleaded guilty, with Michael Cohen, of trying to break into a printing works (W.H. Jones Ltd. on 20th July, 1966) with intent to commit a felony and to possessing housebreaking tools by night.
* Later, when in court for setting light to a print works in Uckfield, Sussex, and causing more than £50,000 worth of damage (November the 5th, 1980) he described himself as "a freelance journalist working for Searchlight."
* In December 1976, Searchlight was described by a stipendiary magistrate, Mr. John Milward, as "scurrilous and disreputable ... What purpose can there be in advertising opponents' meetings except for the purpose of identifying them and creating disorder and violence? This seems to be an attempt to stir up trouble which is to be very strongly deprecated." - Birmingham Post 31/12/76
* An interesting insight into how far Gable’s agent provocateurs will go in order to manufacture stories, the agent Dave Roberts was first exposed as a Searchlight agent when he was convicted in March 1976 for attempted assault following a failed arson attack on Communist Party premises in Birmingham, which doubtless would have been blamed on C88, as were attacks on left-wing bookshops at that time.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND ALL GUARDIAN READERS TO DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH, RATHER THAN RELY ON THE GUARDIAN NEWSPAPER EDITOR TO SPOON FEED THEM WITH WHAT THE GUARDIAN WANTS THEM TO BELIEVE. AFTER ALL, THE GUARDIAN HAS BEEN EMPLOYING SOME PRETTY SORDID TACTICS RECENTLY, AS HAVE MOST OF THE OTHER NATIONALS. PS FOR ALL ITS SINS IT WAS THE NOTW WHO WERE FIRST TO HEADLINE THE HOLLIE GREIG RAPE SCANDAL AND THE HAUT DE LA GARENNE CHILD ABUSE SCANDAL. AT LEAST RUPERT MURDOCK SEEMS TO DESPISE PAEDOPHILIA!
THERES A LOT OF PEOPLE DEAD IN NORWAY. HAVE SOME RESPECT FOR THE DEAD, GUARDIAN EDITOR, AND STOP PRINTING PROPAGANDA - WE WANT THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS HORRIBLE TRAGEDY, NOT LIES AND COVER UPS.

And befoe anyone says it, no, I am not a member of the EDL, and neither am I a member of BNP. In fact, in the last election I voted for my Conservative MP.
That was one of the most stupid deluded things I have ever done in my life. Bill Cash lied to me, he told me he was the man who started the Staffordshire Pindown child abuse investigation. WHAT A BARE FACED LIAR! It was my lawyer Richard Wise who started the Staffordshire Pindown child abuse investigation, and Richard was murdered.
