I LOVE BALLET!
I really wanted to be a ballerina when I was young. Alas, I didn't make it, I started training when I was too old (16) but I just love to watch this graceful, joyous art.
My favourite is Swan Lake, the last act especially. Theres a bit in it which ends like three drops of water on a still pool, the music is sublime. I like the version that Rudolf Nuryvev did best. I went to see Margot Fontayne dance, she was broke and had to dance to make some money when she was quite old, I didnt know anything about her at the time, and I thought she was like a fairy! She was a great dancer even then.
Oh, that is such a difficult dance to perform, and it looks so simple and easy. The dancer has to keep adjusting her focus point, if you watch they all have to tint their heads first one way, then the other, and all four must be in perfect harmony with each other, or else it looks clumsy.
I love all of that ballet, and have been to see it performed many times. It is the about breaking of a spell, and one of my favourite parts is in Act 3, when the prince is beguiled by the enchantress Odile, and you see Odette illuminated in the window for a brief moment, beating her wings on the window. I always feel the dispair in that moment, she can see her beloved being taken in by the wickedness of the magician, and she is desperatly trying to stop his entrapment.
The ballet for me is about the battle of good and evil, and there are several endings to it, but being a Christian I prefer the happy ending!

My specially favourite bit from Swan Lake is the 'Dance of the Cygnets'.
