WHO'S WHO IN THE BBC

After reading about how the BBC stopped an investigation by Newsnight into allegations that Jimmy Saville sexually abused teenage girls at BBC Television Centre

I thought it might be a good idea to have a look at the people responsible for making this decision

The BBC has been accused of shelving a TV investigation into allegations that Sir Jimmy Savile sexually abused teenage girls at its studios.

Current affairs show Newsnight was looking into a woman’s claim that the late TV star molested her when she was 14 or 15 in his dressing rooms at a recording of 1970s show Clunk Click.

But last night BBC chiefs denied ditching the investigation to protect the corporation’s image.

It is alleged Newsnight spoke to several women who claimed Savile exploited his role as presenter of the hit programme to groom and abuse girls. They also heard claims that two other celebrities, who are still alive, abused girls at Television Centre in the 1970s, according to The Oldie magazine.

The magazine quoted BBC sources saying the report was dropped in case it clashed with lavish tributes to the DJ after his death.

Our sister paper, the Sunday Mirror, revealed a month ago a Newsnight report was due to be screened in December, two months after Savile’s death, but was pulled.

All the women making the allegations attended Duncroft Approved School in Staines, Surrey, which Savile visited regularly.

It is claimed Savile took two girls for drives and gave them cigarettes, records, money and places in the TV audience, in exchange for “sexual favours”.

One of the women, now in her 50s, is said to have agreed to waive her anonymity to speak to Newsnight on camera.

Surrey Police received a complaint five years ago from a woman who said Savile indecently assaulted her in the 1970s when she was a Duncroft pupil. Her allegation was investigated but no further action taken.

Neither Surrey Police nor the Met have been contacted by the BBC regarding the fresh allegtions.

Newsnight editor Peter Rippon said: “It is untrue that our investigation was dropped for anything other than editorial reasons.

“The piece was not broadcast because the story could not be substantiated. To allege that we are withholding evidence from the police is also damaging and false.”

Savile died aged 84 in October after raising £40million for charity during his career.

Long-time friend Stephen Purdew slammed the claims. He said: “Sir Jim was a great man, a legend who should be remembered for all the wonderful things he did.”

BBC, YOU DID ATTEMPT TO COVER UP THE STAFFORDSHIRE PINDOWN CHILD ABUSE, BECAUSE YOU MADE A CRAPPY DAMAGE LIMITATION PROGRAM ABOUT IT WITH NEIL MORRISSEY AND YOU DID NOT ALLOW VICTIMS OF THE ABUSE THAT YOU KNEW ABOUT TO TAKE PART IN THE PROGRAM. THAT PROGRAM WAS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ME, YOU KNEW DAMNED WELL THAT I HAVE WRITTEN A BOOKABOUT THE STAFFORDSHIRE PINDOWN CHILD ABUSE, AND YOU HAD A COPY OF YOUR BOOK, I GAVE IT TO ONE OF YOUR PRESENTERS AND ASKED HER IF I MIGHT BE ALLOWED TO GO ON TELEVISION TO SPEAK ABOUT PINDOWN, SHE SAID SHE WOULD ASK HER TEAM, BUT SHE SAID THAT THEY HAD TOLD HER THAT I COULD NOT. THEY ALL BLOODY WELL KNEW I HAD WRITTEN A BOOK YET I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DOCUMENTARY ABOUT PINDOWN!

Not being aggressive by using capitals, I wrote the above in capitals so that it would stand out for the members of the BBC who read this blog, just in case they try to pretend they didn't see it, as Mike Robinson pretended he could not hear me over the telephone after the John Hemming MP Stoke fiasco!

It is a massive battle for people like me to have their voices heard.

My book for example. I had to pay over £1,500 to get it published. I don't know why Amazon are charging people so much to buy it, I have no control over what they charge.

I have asked Trafford several times to make it available in ebook format, when they keep ringing me up to try to get me to sign up to marketing deals which I can't afford. I would like it in ebook format.
