LENNY HARPER REFUSES TO APOLOGISE

Letter published in the THIS IS JERSEY LETTERS TO THE EDITOR November 16, 2010

No need to apologiseNovember 16, 2010 – 3:00 pm
From Lenny Harper, former deputy chief, States of Jersey Police.
I WAS somewhat bemused to hear that your Chief Minister has called for an apology from myself and Graham Power.

This is on the same day as you report that two of those on my priority suspect list when I retired are facing court.

I suppose that in the Mad Hatter world in which some Jersey politicians exist it does seem right to apologise for believing the evidence of victims of State child abuse, both during and after the actual physical abuse.

I suppose they think it okay to apologise for refusing to be intimidated by senior politicians and civil servants with their warnings that my stubbornness could bring the government down.

It really is unforgivable to consult with experts in the UK regarding information received about human remains in Haut de la Garenne and to then take their advice and investigate further.

And imagine the nerve of not apologising for having Association of Chief Police Officers in the UK describe our inquiry as a shining example of how such an enquiry should be carried out?

I suppose if I had fabricated a letter used to demolish the credibility of victims then I would have been a good guy and the JEP would have repeated their glowing words about my work that they published after the second excellent HMI report on Graham Power’s watch.

But then again, what do the HMI know? Perhaps I should have taken the victims’ statements and replaced them with summaries of my own which actually made them look to be inventing stories. I could have given these summaries to the AG and not told him they were actually my own work, that the real thing was very different. Now, didn’t I read that somewhere in the Napier Report?

Or, like a former Home Affairs Minister, the one after Wendy Kinnard, I could just have changed my mind with each new piece of evidence.

On reflection, I think that I sleep better having that sort of people criticise me and the victims and ordinary decent people believe that I tried my best for them.

GOOD!

If he had apologised I would have lost the deep respect I have for him.

Well maybe he should for dragging all those memories and trashing the lives of innocent people causing all those lies about dead bodies, murders..... and more.

He should have investigated the allegations (many false) in a professional manner and resisted the temptation to play with the gutter press.

I am publishing the vile comments from the real criminals just so that everyone can see for themselves how putrid these people are.

Yes, I am in shock, I did not think they would be so stupid to go ahead and jail Stuart Syvret.

They will regret it, because the whole world will soon know what they have done.

Hi Zoompad,

Actually the very suggestion that he apologise made me laugh and I commented on Stuart's Blog. Hape you are well,

Cheryl

Lenny Harper is a good guy.

His critics appear to be defending the worst forms of child abuse.

Jersey seems to be a sick sort of island.

Zoompad - I have copied and pasted an e-mail from John Hemmings MP. Please could you people on the mainland do as requested asap. We need your MP's to sign this Early Day Motion.

Thanks

I have tabled an Early Day Motion about this.

Number 1033
http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=42022&SESSION=905

The best way to handle this is to get people who live on the mainland to contact their own MP and ask them to sign the EDM.

It is not very effective if MPs are lobbied by people other than their constituents. It tends to irritate rather than get results.

I have also contacted Amnesty International.

Yes I will.

I am also going to attempt to clear the air with John Hemming as many of us mothers who were accused of PAS in the secret family courts do not trust him. Especially when we found out that Penny Mellor is big mates with Margaret Hodge the MP who has done her utmost to cover up child abuse.

Mr Hemming would not raise a whisper to help any of us PAS mums, and we simply want him to be absolutly straight with us as to why not.

I need to know that I can trust 100% the people I am working with. There may be some people who will criticise me for being a loudmouth loose cannon, but those who know me know I am as straight as a die, and just want to be assured that I am not going to be stabbed in the back by folks pretending to work with us anti child abuse campaigners, as I was so very recently by a certain woman who now works with corrupt people at Stafford SS.

John, I hope you are reading this. PLEASE just tell me, can I trust you? Because although you are seeming to say and do all the right things in Parliament, I need to know that you are 100% on our side bin the war against institutional child abuse. It did not bide well with me to have to secretly warn Stuart to be on his guard against you, but I did so because I just do not know if you are genuine and I want to know, not out of curiosity or mischief, but simply to keep from being stitced up again and to keep all my friends from being stitched up likewise. If you are genuine you will understand.

Of course I will contact my MP and ask him to sign this, and encourage others to do likewise.
